Internal Field Auditor
Chartwell Seniors Housing REIT Corporate Office, MISSISSAUGA
This role is an exceptional opportunity for a self-motivated, bilingual (English/French) team player with strong organizational and time management skills and 3 to 5 of functional business or finance experience. Verifying that control functions at the community level are effective, you will audit specific accounting cycles (revenue, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, etc.) that are identified as potential risk areas. This involves planning, organizing, and carrying out internal audits, including preparing audit plans and reports. Specifically, you will identify control and procedural weaknesses in residences, document main control points, provide supporting evidence for audit report recommendations, maintain and develop internal control documentation, and test the control environment to support requirements. We will also rely on you to ensure that residences and field operations conform to Chartwell’s financial policies and procedures and meet all financial, contractual and regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Director, Internal Controls Compliance, you will also assist Chartwell in satisfying Bill 198 compliance requirements, with a specific focus directed towards the Corporate Offices in Mississauga and the U.S. and Chartwell Quebec operations.
In addition to a degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (or equivalent), you hold a professional accounting designation, and have a solid understanding of business processes and internal audit procedures. With excellent analytical and communication skills and sound judgement, you are able to work on multiple tasks, with minimal supervision, in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating your high standards of conduct and ethics. Professional interpersonal abilities will prove essential, to interact with internal and external parties. A valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle are required, as this position involves extensive travel.
