TD Wholesale Bank provides a full range of corporate banking and investment banking services, including providing customized solutions to corporate clients using complex financial derivative products. The valuation of financial instruments (in particular, derivative instruments) is complex and is dependent on the accuracy of significant amounts of market yields and prices. It may also be dependent on theoretically derived models. In order to ensure the accuracy of financial instrument valuation for financial accounting purposes, the SFR group works with Middle Office and Trading Risk Management to ensure that procedures are in place to independently verify all parameters that affect the valuation. The group also works on the resolution of valuation issues pertaining to trading portfolios related to the Wholesale Bank.

Job Description

The Senior Analyst will assist the SFR Senior Manager in ensuring that business lines adhere to valuation policies (e.g. ensuring that valuation policies specific to the Wholesale Bank’s trading portfolios are properly followed and implemented). The group has exposure to all types of plain vanilla and illiquid financial instruments (both cash products and derivatives) and has the opportunity to learn about how their market values are derived, deal with emerging accounting issues, and how the Wholesale Bank operates.
Good knowledge of financial instruments including derivatives, fixed income securities, foreign exchange products would be an asset.
Specific accountabilities of the position include:
- completion and co-ordination of the monthly reporting package for executive management by analyzing valuation issues and consolidating all global business line results;
- daily monitoring and analysis of changes in the credit risk valuation adjustment (including attribution of results, flux analysis, analysis of spreads and posting of entries)
- managing follow up process with Middle Office and Market Risk Control related to outstanding valuation issues
- managing annual front office attestation process
- assisting in the annual reviews of business line independent verification processes to ensure that processes and documentation are appropriate and meet policy standards;
- assisting in fx functional currency analysis of all TD Bank subsidiaries;
- assisting in the maintenance of documentation over observability of market parameters in the valuation process;
- Working on special projects as required.
