FINANCIAL REPORTING
has an immediate opportunity for a
MANAGER, EXTERNAL FINANCIAL REPORTING
Pay Band 8
Overview:
Reporting to the Senior Director, External Financial Reporting, the manager will prepare the external financial statements and various note disclosures of George Weston Limited and will analyze technical accounting issues, ensuring compliance with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Responsibilities:
Preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and notes.
Quarterly analysis of the consolidated balance sheet (ie. critical account rolls, accruals analysis, intercompany eliminations)
Quarterly analysis of the consolidated cash flow (ie. working capital analysis).
Liaise with departments across the Weston Foods business and provide assistance on all technical accounting issues including variable interest entities, financial instruments, commodity accounting and hedging.
Liaise with the legal department and operations relating to legal reserves.
Analysis of restructuring charges to ensure that the appropriate recognition criteria are met and analysis of restructuring accruals.
Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards, including International Financial Reporting Standards, as required.
Assist in the preparation of working papers that support the quarterly and annual financial statements.
Prepare the sub-certification results and summary of issues for the Disclosure Committee.
Assist in the preparation of various Disclosure Committee and Audit Committee materials.
Preparation of ad hoc reports and analysis for senior management as requested.
Special projects, as required.
Qualifications:
Chartered Accountant designation.
3 years of external financial reporting experience.
Demonstrated leadership expertise.
Strong knowledge of financial accounting processes, policies and systems.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong organizational, planning and problem solving skills.
Quality driven and detail oriented.
Strong project management skills with the ability to leverage resources (people, processes, departments, tools) to complete objectives effectively and efficiently.
Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization and to build strong working relationships.
Enthusiastic team player with proven ability to thrive in a fast paced and changing work environment.
Proven ability to execute and multi-task.
