As part of a multi-year strategic initiative to improve financial controls, reduce administrative costs and improve administrative services the University of Calgary is involved in an Innovative Support Services Project (iS2). The scope of the Project includes financial, human resource, supply chain management and informational technology operations and service across campus. The Project includes the implementation of a new operating model including changes to processes, policies, and systems. Specifically, the Project includes the design and implementation of major changes to the current PeopleSoft system to upgrade to a new version and better support business needs. The Project began earlier this year and is planned to continue until June 2011.
The University of Calgary is currently inviting applications for a full time limited term Senior Finance Lead, iS2 . This position is for 12 months with a possibility of extension to June 2011 to lead and contribute to the success of iS2. This position reports to the Controller.
As the Senior Finace Lead you will provide senior level financial input, advice and guidance to support the financial elements of the iS2 Program. You will develop and project manage key elements of the finance portion of the iS2 Program project plan to include coordinating activities across all elements of the finance portion of the iS2 Program to ensure effective integration across the function and support the resolution of issues, oversee the development and completion of required reports on the status of the finance chartfield reengineering activities and other follow-on projects that will be assigned, provide strategic leadership on the planning and implementation of the foundation change project and represent the finance function of project teams as assigned.
The ideal candidate for this role is an accounting profession with a Project Management background complimented by over ten years of experience in a senior finance role preferably in a non-profit organization. Your ten years of experience should include experience with finance transformation initiatives, including major changes to processes and systems and implementing finance systems such as Peoplesoft. You are comfortable leading teams and are well versed in project management and planning.
