We are a Toronto-based private equity fund manager that focuses on buy-out opportunities in the Canadian and American mid-market (enterprise values between $50 and $300 million). Together with our CEO Partners, we create platforms for long-term growth through the acquisition and stewardship of select corporations in targeted industries. These companies serve as the “platforms” for growth, both organic and via follow-on acquisitions, to achieve leading positions within their respective industries. The successful candidate will have a minimum 2 years of merger/acquisition experience, which will include having been responsible for the creation of an integrated financial model (income statement, balance sheet and cash flow). Strong analytical skills, great attitude, strong work ethic and strong interpersonal skills are mandatory. A CBV, CPA or CFA designation, in addition to a CA, is an asset.
The Analyst will work with VPs, Principals and Partners in the following respects:
- Transaction Support: Once an acquisition candidate has been identified, you will work with team members to analyze the opportunity, which will include the following:
- Preparing a leveraged acquisition model;
- Preparing transaction summaries (publicly traded comparables and precedent transactions);
- Preparing information request and due diligence request lists;
- Undertaking research in the industry niche;
- Reviewing due diligence materials, analyzing and summarizing your findings for the rest of the team; and
- Assisting with contacting the lending community to solicit interest to finance acquisitions.
- Industry Research: Identifying industry sectors that have better than average economics, preferably with fragmented industry structures that are suitable for leveraged acquisitions. You will work with team members to make a determination as to which industry sectors should be targeted by Imperial Capital and then report your findings to the rest of the investment team to seek approval for investing in the particular sector. This will involve reviewing industry information, discussions with security analysts, discussions with executives, consultants, attending industry conferences, etc. in order to get a better grasp of the industry and determine trending and industry issues.
- Deal Generation: Once an industry sector has been identified and approval has been obtained to pursue the industry, the Analyst will be responsible for creating a database of potential acquisition candidates and, along with other team members, contact these companies to establish a relationship and determine their interest in a potential transaction.
- Portfolio Company Management:
- Reviewing and analyzing reports from portfolio companies;
- Keeping abreast of industry trends and issues and informing colleagues; and
- Special projects, including assisting the finance function of portfolio companies with modeling assignments.

Salary Range $70,000 - $90,000/yr, commensurate with experience
